This is a 12 month FTC Digital Program Manager role to join an exempt charity, and a non departmental public body of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
They have recently rolled out a new digital services programme, a commercially-focussed strategy based on three core value propositions: developing new data-driven business models; digitising their visitor journey and creating virtual immersive experiences.
The Sr. Programme Manager is responsible for the programme and project management capabilities in delivering the programme.
Working with the head of digital services they lead a cross-department governance process to manage, monitor the delivery of the strategy, ensuring that projects align to strategic goals and that financial and project objectives are met. Both programme, project and team management skills will be required to ensure projects are delivered in line with best practice methods. The role will lead the Directorate on business process, budget management and communications and be responsible for building strategic, fiscal and project management capability.
¢ To ensure the delivery of the commercial targets of the digital programme P&L
¢ To lead the governance programme for digital that aligns stakeholder needs, adds value to the delivery process and creates a shared understanding of projects
¢ To lead the digital services programme management and support the product management and the growth of data and insight as a discipline
MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES
¢ Work with the Digital Director, Head of New Digital Services, Head of Communications and Head of Information Services to deliver the targets of their digital strategy
¢ Use programme management frameworks to plan, manage and develop the Digital & Communications’ directorates programme of work, incorporating defined activities, benefits, KPIs and expected timelines and milestones, and ensuring that activity aligns with the Gallery’s strategic goals
¢ Prepare schedules showing the programme’s critical path and key milestones
¢ Manage the directorate’s budget, tracking spend across all projects and ensuring project teams adhere to set budgets, maintaining audit trails and purchasing in accordance with best value principles
¢ Ensure all projects within the digital programme are completed on schedule and within budget, and make appropriate reports to Trustees, Executive Committee, Digital Advisory Group and others as appropriate
¢ Manage a programme governance structure and deliver a reporting framework for monitoring the progress and success of projects and the overall programme
¢ To manage the procurement process for a series of high-value tenders
¢ To manage external vendor relationships, including vendor selection, contract negotiation and operational relationship management
¢ Ensure mechanisms and processes are in place to maximise the effectiveness of the programme
¢ Work with project leads to develop (or advance) individual project plans with defined activities, benefits, KPIs and expected timelines and milestones
¢ Manage a digital communications plan and lead stakeholder communications at a programme level
¢ Partner with the Digital Director and Head of New Digital Services in business, resource and budget planning
¢ Support and develop colleagues with project management of their delegated projects
¢ Support the development of robust project teams, defining any new resource needs
¢ Deliver a consistent project control framework to manage risks, issues and quality, and manage the risk register
¢ Work alongside appropriate colleagues and leaders to coordinate, support, challenge and ensure the on-track delivery of key strategic initiatives
¢ Manage a variable number of direct reports (both fixed term and permanent) as needed to achieve objectives and within budget.
¢ Any other tasks as required of the role.
EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE
¢ A proven track record of digital programme management in an arts or cultural heritage environment
¢ Strong experience of business case development, budget management and business process development and implementation
¢ Team leadership, using a range of management tools or techniques to manage attendance, performance, development and motivation of team members.

¢ A deep understanding of the benefits and outcomes of digital programmes and organisational impact
¢ Knowledge of how to develop and present engaging business cases.
