Something exciting has popped up in the arches of Old Street underground station in the centre of London’s tech hub. The UK’s a first virtual reality store has set up shop for one week only, so Cogs London went down to have a look.
Virtually Reality is a retail start-up with the aim of providing customers with an unrivalled in-store experience founded by Alexander Cohen and Rudy Bonura – and that’s exactly what we got on our visit.
The store is set up with 3 different experiences that require you to use your body to get the full virtual experience. The WizDish platform with Oculus headgear enabled you to run around an enchanted maze to collect golden coins. The HTC Vive equipment with hand-held controllers enabled you to create 3D artwork, clean windows on a skyscraper and hunt aliens. Lastly, the VRGO chair and headset gives you the chance for hands free virtual navigation.
Rudy Bonura, Co-Founder of Virtually Reality, a self-confessed gamer who has been a fan since a young age, talked to Cogs about the shift over the last 20 years where VR has gone from bulky futuristic software that felt years away from market, to affordable, accessible equipment for everyone and he believes VR is going to become a way of life in the future. “Virtually Reality has even exceeded my expectations. This is basically the technology of the future and we are going to see this being integrated into everyone’s life.”
