EOSIO

The future is automation by way of connectivity and reliability. Smart Contracts brings together the best of the future to enable conflict-free agreements between parties.

We are back with a second crypto meetup in Hong Kong. This time we will have Block.one, a leader in providing high-performance blockchain solutions to give us an introduction to smart contract development with EOSIO.

Hong Kong is highly supportive of blockchain and its government has ventured increasingly in trade finance projects in the last 2 years. Interest in crypto is just emerging and will continue to spread through the region as other markets use Hong Kong as a role model.

What is EOSIO?

EOSIO, the core blockchain software, enables a digital blockchain infrastructure that will replace existing commerce and communications models with scalable applications that are more secure.

The highlights of EOSIO are its responsive, scalable and self-governing features. This makes it appealing to a host of businesses to adopt. Particularly in the fields of the supply chain, resource management, user-messaging such as social media, asset issuance and trading, accounting for remittances, and gaming.

Come learn more about EOSIO and how to integrate it into your development projects

Cogs Hong Kong supports a local digital community HK Techneeks in bringing you knowledge-fuelled events.

We are privileged to have Han Liu, Developer Relations Engineer at Block.one to present to us a high-level introduction for blockchain technology (for those who are new), how EOSIO works, the differences in performance as compared to other chains, resources needed to power EOSIO and how to work with the platform.

Han Liu will also shed more light into the back end of Smart Contracts and do a live demonstration of writing an EOSIO Smart Contract.

About Han Liu

Before landing in HK, Han Liu has spent time in both large companies and startups. His previous role was a software architect for a FinTech startup located along the canals of Amsterdam where he doubled as a requirement analyst and team lead. Prior to that, he worked on various products ranging from: image decompression for cancer diagnosis software, development of a high-traffic distribution system for a media site, and leveraging P2P technology for a game development platform.

In his previous role, he discovered the power of blockchain and its benefits as an immutable, transparent and multiple-parties ledger. However, recognizing the steep learning curve and challenges around mass adoption of the technology, Han Liu is continuing to bridge this through his work at Block.one Joining Block.one was a no-brainer as he discovered an organisation that continues to develop a blockchain protocol that is optimized for developer experience and continues to foster the development of meaningful applications. Having originally grown up in China and spending a number of years in Europe, Han Liu is happy to be back in Hong Kong surrounded by its Asian heritage, diverse cuisine and multicultural environment.

In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, visiting museums, reading books, brushing up his DSL skills and having a nice workout in Tang Shou Tao Dojo.
