We are finding less and less people are applying to the ads we place on jobs boards; a few possible reasons…

– There are now lots of places for companies to advertise roles for free, such as linkedin and facebook, meaning people look for jobs in a wider variety of places.

– A lot of the ads on job boards are from 2nd rate recruiters and for made up roles. Mainly posted in the hope someone half decent might apply, for whom they can speculatively approach prospective employers, often without the candidate’s knowledge (rant over).

– The best way to get a job is chatting to someone you trust; such as an industry friend, an ex-colleague or a really good recruiter. Then you don’t waste time applying for any old job on the web.

– There are loads of job boards out there! With new ones springing up every day.

All doesn’t bode too well for online jobs boards. That said if you want a good one in our industry, try Brand Republic, not guaranteed to find you a job but at least there a more jobs on there than anywhere else.

Better still, if you want to work in digital in London give us a call and we’ll do our best to help…..
