The debate – BRAND v AGENCY
So we have been gathering insights on how the working environments differentiate from agency to client side. Today the pro’s and con’s come from the technology sector. If you are thinking of jumping sides here are some thoughts from individuals working in the industry that you may want to consider.
We asked everyone the same question: So, having worked for agencies and direct for a brand which do you prefer and why?
I prefer agency side working. I enjoy the variety of clients and being surrounded by many people who I can learn from.
Generally I definitely prefer client side working, but sometimes it depends on the job; with client side working you feel more integrated and part of a bigger network, which I love, but if the agency role is client facing, you get that ‘first day’ feeling with every new project.
To be completely honest I absolutely don’t have preference when it comes Brand v Agency: there are quite crazy client-side projects as well as well managed agency jobs where a trafficker makes sure everyone’s happy. You get a chance to pick up extra skills client-side, yet that doesn’t always happen and pace can be as mad as at an agency. Money at an agency tends to be better from my experience, but yet again, because of the rush with the projects it can have unplanned long hours on short notice that disrupts my schedules and training for the whole week even if it’s just one late evening.
