UK Employer Brand Survey – The Most Sought After Employers For Digital Talent

Great people make great businesses.  The quality of a company’s digital services, products and experience are essential to differentiating themselves from their competitors.

Therefore, attracting talent and a company’s employer brand are paramount to long-term success. With digital skills in high demand and short supply, we thought we would ask the digital community who they want to work for and why!

We surveyed 504 digital specialists in the UK and asked them to rank the top 5 companies they want to work for and top 3 reasons they would choose a new employer.  To create the employer brand league for someone’s first choice company, we awarded 5 points, second choice got 4 points, number three got 3 and so on.  When two or more companies have the same number of points, we’ve ranked them based on how popular they are! For example, Twitter and Oracle got the same number of points but more people included Twitter in their top 5 than Oracle, so Twitter appears higher in the league.

For the reasons people chose a prospective employer, we spoke with 504 people in total, so that out of 1,512 reasons, pay and benefits came up 287 times which is 18% of the total mentions.  So money seems pretty important to most people!

Clearly, 504 people is a fraction of the total number of people working in digital in the UK, but we think the study and the data behind it raises some interesting insights.  For companies reviewing the league who are interested in the data and what it all means (perhaps you didn’t make the top 50 and wonder why…), please do get in touch as we’d love to share more information about the survey and our learnings.
