Hot on the heels of the successful 2014 campaign, Suits for Success is back!
Women in Finance Asia, in partnership with Project Share and Community Business, is rallying Hong Kong’s business community to donate their under-used professional clothing to empower under-privileged youngsters. Last year we ran our first campaign and collected over 400 bags of unwanted business clothing from supporters all over the city. Everything from belts to cufflinks, dresses, trousers and shoes were donated, sorted by volunteers at the Friends of the Earth office and given to 65 young adults between the ages of 16 and 19. They used these clothes to to attend interviews, take up internships and enter full-time employment.
This year we are adding an additional 150 more young adults to the program through Community Business initiatives Engage and StepUp, that means we will need over 1500 bags of clothing to help them all. Companies large and small will be involved again this year, Kate Reid (WiFA and Eximius) who is organising this years event commented;Β βIts a great way for companies of any size to get involved. We have businesses of less than 5 people that are able to add a CSR activity to their agenda which otherwise they may not have time to deliver. We also welcome 28 large global businesses to the initiatives this year, large or small these businesses want to reach their local community and Suits for Success offers that opportunity.β
The Suits for Success clothing drive will take place from 2nd to 5th March 2015 in conjunction with International Womenβs Day. Clothes can be dropped at select Compass Offices around the city or you can contact the organisers directly to add your company to the partner list.
