This week’s ‘Cogs Recommends’ feature has been created by Paul Finan, Senior Consultant in our Brands team:
Franco’s Sandwich Bar & Café, on 67 Rivington Street in Shoreditch, has been providing fuel to Cogs employees since 2007 when we moved to our current offices in Curtain Road. Offering delights from the Mediterranean at breakfast and lunch, Franco’s is known for its hearty, good-value, fast food — delivered in exactly that fashion.
Franco’s is a family-run restaurant, and this is evident from their swarms of regular customers, many of whom greet Carlos, Luis and other staff members by name. Even on rainy days you can find a long queue of hungry punters filling outside onto the street, waiting for their takeaway service. As one of my staple lunch haunts, I absolutely live for their huge jacket potatoes, topped with whatever I fancy (usually spinach, chicken and bacon mix), and a large side of Greek salad. I also love their fresh pasta, salads, sandwiches, paninis, and omelets. First time visitors might feel a bit intimidated by their board of specials, lightning-fast ordering system, and the buzz of the cooks and owners talking loudly at each other as they whip up the food. But, once you get the hang of it you’ll become a regular like me.
In short, Franco’s provides an oasis amongst the Shoreditch madness, the comfort food that helps cure hangovers at great prices. Seriously though, Francos have a great reputation in Shoreditch based around their fresh ingredients, fast service and always treating the customer first. Highly recommended by me, and no jacket potatoes were exchanged for this review!
