Earlier this year Gladys Liu (our UX, Creative and Design recruitment specialist for China) went back to her academic roots to deliver a workshop to more than 150 undergraduates at City University in Hong Kong.

As a Post graduate of CUHK, qualified HR professional and now recruitment specialist Gladys wanted to share her experiences of moving into the commercial world and the path that led her to be a Senior Consultant at Cogs. While enlightening the students on the virtues and challenges of moving into the working world for the first time, Gladys also spent the weekend mentoring budding professionals on career guidance, CV and interview planning and self-development.

Over the course of the weekend there was a multitude of activities and topics covered from CV workshops to Q&A sessions with key speakers. However the theme of the event was ‘China’ and professional opportunities for graduates in the mainland.

As a PRC citizen and a specialist in delivering digital talent solutions to Chinese companies, Gladys was able to offer rich insights into the current employment market in China and the opportunities on offer for young professionals.

Gladys commented “With enterprise giants such as Alibaba, Huawei and Tencent leading the way in technology/product innovation and putting China on the global stage, the mainland is no longer perceived to be a ‘copycat’ market. Thought-leaders of the future are being born out of China. It’s a truly exciting landscape for grass roots talent”.
