Our 3rd section of the Graduate Series focuses on finding and applying for jobs.
3. Where to find a job and Applying for jobs;
A good way to get your first break is to apply for internships, placements, work experience and jobs directly. How do you go about this? Research, Research and more Research. Use LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and industry publications like Creative Review & Campaign. Check out agency and company sites, see if they have a placement / internship scheme and find the right person to contact. Line Managers, Recruitment Managers and HR are the best people to contact. For example; Creative Director, Design Director, Head of Production, Studio or Traffic Managers are a good start.
If you find a company that you like, call them for information, research then tailor you application to the agency and or the job being recruited for.
Spell check – it might just make the difference so get someone else to look over your application before sending it on.
There are lots of job boards out there so try using these as a start. Also, there are some decent recruitment agencies that specialise in graduate placements.
