There’s never been a better time to work in Technology. We live in a world where tech is advancing by the minute and to meet this demand, businesses are willing to pay.
Salaries across the industry have seen a positive increase over the past year following the pandemic. Tech weathered the storm well, many jobs remained intact and tech businesses actually blossomed, playing a key role in the transformation of the working world.
With the significant financial support and investment from the Government and VCs, London’s startups and scaleups are booming. Particularly within the tech sector thanks to VC’s like Seedcamp who invest in founders using technology to tackle large, global markets. Start-ups require full-stack technologists and agencies are increasingly on a look-out for Creative Technologists, who can do the tech talk aswell as communicate with creatives
Software Engineers remain a hot contender for the highest ranking salaries in the UK. We have seen the trend that Perm salaries have increased over the past 18 months across all disciplines and Tech Stacks regardless if you focus on Front-End Back End, Full Sack, DevOpss OR Mobile etc.
While salaries have risen, there will always be differences across industries and business types. Technology roles within pharmaceutical and financial industries can pay considerably higher than the creative industry. Naturally startups will have less budget to spend than large global brands, however with the growth of these smaller businesses comes huge potential. We have also seen a gradual rise in technology salaries in the creative and digital space and there is definitely scope for this to continue into 2023 and onwards.
Other factors that may effect salary bands includes level of experience, technical skill set, region or location and the future scope of the role.
The salary benchmark we present is a median. We acknowledge there are vast discrepancies across the technology market, but based on the current market these are the salaries that employees and employers can expect.
